WHAT IS SHOCKWAVE THERAPY?

Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to stimulate musculoskeletal healing and reduce pain. It is highly effective for treating chronic pain and promoting tissue regeneration, offering a cutting-edge solution for patients who have not found relief through traditional methods.  Shockwave therapy works by stimulating cellular responses by converting mechanical energy into biochemical signals (a process called mechanotransduction).

Iain has spent the past five years training year-round as a mountain athlete, pursuing objectives both at home in the Tetons and abroad. He has skied from the top of the Grand Teton (twice), Mount Rainier, and Denali, and summited 6,000+ meter peaks in the Himalaya. He loves skiing, hiking, running, and climbing, and knows what it takes to accomplish long-term goals, as well as the aches and pains of constant physical activity. Chris believes that every individual has the potential to lead a healthier and happier life, and that exercise can be a fun and rewarding way to achieve that goal. Whether his clients are looking to lose weight, build strength, or simply feel more confident and energized, He is there to guide and support them every step of the way. Chris takes the time to get to know each of his clients on an individual basis, learning about their unique goals, challenges, and lifestyles. With this information, he is able to design customized workout plans that are tailored to each client's needs, preferences, and abilities.
  • What is Chiropractic?
The word chiropractic means “Done by hand.” We do hands-on non-invasive treatment for musculoskeletal issues and nerve entrapment. As sports chiropractors, our treatment goes far beyond the simple chiropractic adjustment, working into the muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons that are affected. Our goal is to find out why it hurts, not just to treat what hurts.
  • What does our typical chiropractic visit look like?
The first visit starts with an exam including orthopedic tests as indicated and an analysis of how your joints move as well any imbalances in your muscles that could be contributing to your issue. From there we address the soft tissue injuries and imbalances. We may use Active Release Techniques, Graston, cupping, stretching, and other therapies. Next as chiropractors, we typically adjust. Adjusting is simply putting movement into a joint; it may or may not produce a cavitation, that “pop” often associated with chiropractic visits. If you’re not ready for an adjustment, let us know; we are happy to take care of you with all the other therapies. We love to explain what is happening that is leading to your issues and teach stretches and simple exercises that will help you to continue to heal and avoid recurrence of the injury.
  • What should I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit will take around 45 minutes and comprises a detailed history; an exam including functional movement screening and orthopedic, neurological and muscle tests as indicated; treatment including myofascial release, chiropractic adjustments, and rehab prescription. Additional therapies (Electric Stim, Graston, RockTape, cupping) may used as needed.
  • What should I wear?
Please dress in clothes that allow you to move. Athletic shorts or legging allow us to work much better than jeans!
  • How and when do I pay?
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash, local checks and credit/debit cards. JH Backcountry Health does not bill insurance. We are happy to provide you with a superbill/detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance or HSA.
  • Will I need to come back?
This depends on the condition and what you are looking for. We like to get you feeling better and out doing what you love as quick as possible. Some issues resolve in one visit; some take a few. We love to teach you what you can do to take charge of your health and not have to visit us too often.
  • What do we treat?
Back pain Neck pain Headaches Jaw pain and TMJ issues Nerve pain and nerve entrapment Sciatica Shoulder and rotator cuff issues Tendinitis Hand and arm pain Numbness and tingling Hip pain Knee pain Feet and ankles Plantar Fasciitis Tennis Elbow and a bit more
  • Why choose JH Backcountry Health?
We spend more time with our patients to understand the root cause of your issue and to treat it accordingly. Our mission is to help you make your goals happen. We keep up on evidenced-based treatments and love working on tricky issues.
